Electro/Balkan music – TURKIYE
With us is an interesting release, that connects the world of electro tendencies and the Balkan musical heritage. This is not about some minimized edition, but musical solutions, that were approached seriously.
Schnieke is the alter-ego of Ozgur Akgul, musician/composer/multi-instrumentalist, who dedicated the album to his grandmother, a very important person in his life. With an extended team of high-quality musicians, 9 instrumental tracks were recorded, through which numerous interesting conceptual solutions are interwoven. So, we can find here and there many elements of Balkan musical heritage, older and newer, which collide with electro loops, with frequent rhythmic changes, maintaining the tension of the arranged themes. The musical solutions “draw” a lot of emotions as well as emotional elements, which in a way represent the leading ideological line of the prepared material. I assume that although the album itself exudes world music elements, the general psychology could be more acceptable to listeners from the Balkans.
“Hediye” is a release that you can fully indulge in, and which brings with it a lot of different multi-colored images and, to repeat once again, specific emotions.
