Folk rock/folk pop/melodic rock/pop – USA
Singer/songwriter Matthew Check is a longer time in the “saddle”, and his activities touches wider fields of bluegrass, roots music/folk pop/rock, and classic variants of rock approach as well. During the previous period, he has been cooperated with many musicians/colleagues, but all of the time, he wrote his own songs , and research his general musical possibilities.
“Without a Throne” is a seven tracks album, where we can face it with different author’s mood and emotional statements. His interesting spheres also research Jewish theological themes , and as a author, he on the other side also writes about his personal encounters, situations and moods. And in his songs, we can find in common, elements of roots music folk rock/pop, and modern pop/rock as well.
Some of his songs, in my opinion knows to remind on James Taylor’s earlier heritages, but that’s just my opinion. “Without a throne” as a album posses a similar atmosphere and similar quality of arranged songs.
