Kyles Tolone is a quartet from Gottingen, whose saga lasts for 12 years. The international premiere of the third album “Youth”, is scheduled for January 17, 2025, and the band has been working for almost five years on creating songs for the aforementioned release.
So we can find here and there 10 songs done in different moods, with different approaches, but with still “youthful” enthusiastic relation with their basic early will and desire for things to be done as planned. With many existing melancholic places and infected with many traces of post-new wave and the 90s period, the band offered their vision of indie rock/pop, where each track has its own defined story. In certain places, the arrangements are too “watered down” and drawn out, and there seems to be the presence of a perhaps larger view of an earlier period, primarily in terms of expression. So, despite Paul Zimmermann’s production work, it seems that certain songs are too long and unnecessarily complicated in terms of performance.
All the time while listening to this album, I have the impression that expressively and psychologically it belongs to some period of the 90s, rather than to present moments.
