Progressive metal/thrash metal – GERMANY
Kryptoportikus is a project between two experienced musicians, Chris Techritz, who is also producer, and Franz Herde, vocalist on the two albums -„Life Cycle“ (1988) and „Steps“ (1990) of the progressive metal band Sieges Even.
Both musicians met in 2015 and started their project under the name Carrier, but later decided to change the name to Kryptokortikus, under which the current album „Dark Rainbow“ is released. As the rumours announced, this album will also be released as a vinyl later on.
„Dark Rainbow“, with 12 tracks presented on album, talks about the themes connected with Greek mythology. Several friends/musicians collaborated on album, whose musical direction led to progressive metal tendencies and less thrash metal variants. The sound is full of sometimes confusing rhythm changes and often dialogues between instrumental parts, where the presented arrangement works varies from song to song. The songs themselves are fast, furious, with many vocal variations and frequent mood swings. In some places, it seems that production is overly prominent and that both actors wanted to say and show a lot through the music from the album. Other technical details satisfy as well, as well as the professionalism of everyone involved in the making of the album.
