In a world where numerous genre forms and stylistic musical combinations pass by us, sometimes it is difficult to find a certain artist, who in some special way, through a simple and old manner, communicates something new to us in own language. One of such personalities is a singer of emotional vocals and immediate energy, which is called Lucibela.
Although she started singing a little earlier, her real vocal beginnings date back to 2012. This 38- year -old artist made her vocal debut in 2016 in Lisbon. At that time, many journalists compared her to Cesaria Evora. But, during the coming period, she built her own authentic style. Together with the current one, “Moda Antiga”, she released a total of 3 albums : the first “Laco Umblical”(2016.), after which came “Amdjer” in 2022, with which she experienced adequate success. The world premiere of the new “Moda Antiga” release is sheduled for 11/08/2024, while the single “Lembra Tempo”, will be available on all relevant platforms from November 8th.
“Moda Antiga” celebrates Cape Verde ‘s musical heritage. As she says, this is a traditional album, where she found inspiration from numerous artists, where we came across some old and some unrealized songs. Lucibela’s “choice” of “world music” story touches on numerous varieties of roots music heritage, from Latin American influences, through Afro and early 60’s pop Brazilian varieties. And that there are many more, genres close, where they are always in the foreground, we encounter the vocal immediacy, mentioned emotions and a clear message.
“Moda Antiga” with 11 songs represents a serious achievement, which the acceptance of this singer on the world stage will rise to a significant level.
