David Massey played guitar on and off for fifteen years before taking a stab at writing a song.  At 35, moved by his sister’s struggles with mental illness, he wrote “Susie Came Home.”  Not sure what to make of the result, he set it aside and didn’t attempt a second song until six years later.  On Memorial Day, 2001, he read a Washington Post reprint of a letter a young American fighter pilot wrote to his wife during World War II after learning of the birth of their first child.

„Mine“ is the 5th full length album by the hard traveling, foot stomping roots duo known as Swampcandy. Set for release in October, „Mine“ is 13 songs of acoustic and electric americana heavily influenced by primitive blues, world music, hard driving rock’n’roll, rotgut whiskey, almost 2 000 live shows and 100’s of 1 000’s of road miles. The tales they spin are sometimes moral, sometimes dark, yet always timeless. Sonically, the material weaves seamlessly between the incredibly full sound created by the core band, guitarist and vocalist Ruben Dobbs and bassist and foot drummer Joey Mitchell, and the ultimate vision of the songs replete with keyboards, strings, vibes and more.

On their 3rd album, „Psychic Reader“, Stockholm guitar slingers The Plastic Pals flirt with glam, ska, pub rock and 70’s soul and funk. But the band still stay true to their patented twin guitar, drums and bass sound, drawing inspiration from 70’s CBGB’s rock and the Paisley Underground, with a dash of powerpop, psychedelia and blue eyed soul.
